A developer with an eye for design; a designer with a consideration for code.
I’ve been messing around with pixels and tags for more than of half my life having built my first website at the age of 14 (in 1999) with a cracked trial version of Macromedia Dreamweaver. My first love was Flash and the boundless plugin-dependent possibilities it promised. I’d spend days creating stuff for my own amusement and to simply learn new things. What I didn’t realise is that I was actually teaching myself the fundamentals of Motion Design and Javascript. Who’d have thought all those hours learning Actionscript and Greensock would still aid me many years later while coding this very website? Good call learning that one summer instead of going outside, weird little Jamie.
Nowadays I spend most of my time as a developer, building websites with a mostly-vanilla stack and have a strong preference for KirbyCMS.
Experience
With over 13 years of experience as an agency designer, I've worked with clients big & small in both England and Germany on branding, web, and app projects. Since 2017 I’ve been self-employed, initially working as a freelancer where I found a niche as a designer who can code and eventually switching to predominantly development. I’m now one-third of studio~humm, a brand design and web agency based in Berlin, where I work on full-stack projects as a solo-dev.
